Invidem is a fintech startup founded by six of the major banks in the Nordic countries, Danske Bank, DNB, Handelsbanken, Nordea, SEB and Swedbank. The purpose of the brand is to fight financial crime, like money laundering and terrorist financing, and facilitate business relations in the financial market. The tool for this is a shared KYC (Know-Your-Customer) compliant service, providing stakeholders with superior information.

I have been a part of the team from Valtech since the start of the project. In my role as Design Director / Visual Design Lead, I am responsible for the visual design and branding throughout the entire customer journey. But since I am also a member of the experience team that governs the overall CX for this service, my work covers more than just visual branding. Meaning, being part of the service design process for understanding the business and user needs. Mapping out different customer journeys and then transforming those through UX design into actual product design.

The Design System

The foundation for a consistent experience of a brand across different touchpoints is a design system. Among a lot of benefits, one is great scalability. We can quickly adapt and implement ready-made designs in a consistent way through multiple teams, reducing duplicate work. The design system also improves the collaboration between developers and designers. It ables us to gather around this “one source of truth”. This has also led to faster implementation of new functionality and faster improvement of existing functionality.

This version of the design system uses design tokens to maximize structure and efficiency in the daily design work. The long-term vision is to implement a Design API, making it more or less possible for the design tool itself to "speak" directly with the application/service.
